Stanislas Wawrinka married his long term girlfriend llham Vuilloud, a presenter on TSR in Switzerland and former fashion model.

The newlyweds were married at the Lausanne Palace Hotel in Switzerland, in a private wedding ceremony witressed by 20 guests. They are expecting their first child due in February.

Trivia: both llham and Mirka are older than their respective husbands. llham is ten years older than Wawrinka.

World number 7 Victoria Azarenka has split with her coach of 4 years, Portuguese Antonio Van Grichen (left in the photo).

“Those were four rewarding years. We kind of grew up together both professionally and personally. She went from being junior world champion to number six in the WTA,” said Van Grichen. “I can only wish her the best.”

Currently there is no news yet regarding who is Vika’s new coach, so she can start her 2010 season without a coach.

It is a pretty risky career change for Vika, particularly during this period. Hopefully things work out fine for her.

Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic are both been nominated for the 2010 edition of AskMen.com’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women.

AskMen.com’s Top 99 Most Desirable Woman is compiled annually. Besides sex appeal, voters have to pick women who have characteristics they value in a potential companion, such as intelligence, humor, charisma and ambition.

All the nominees are divided in three categories (models & athletes; actresses; and singers). Voters can go through all the nominees and give them a score between 1 and 10 (10 being the most desirable). The 2010 edition of AskMen.com’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women will be launched on Jan 19.

AskMen.com has been compiling the Most Desirable Women list since 2001. The most desirable woman in 2008 and 2009 are Katherine Heigl and Eva Mendes respectively. The highest a tennis player has placed was No.31, achieved by Maria Sharapova in 2006.

I found 2 interviews about Justine Henin, in both interviews Justine explained how lonely and lost emotionally she was during the retired period, and Federer’s success at Roland Garros inspired her to return.

Between May 08 to June 09 Justine was so uninterested in tennis. She played tennis ‘just two or three times when friends wanted to play. She also finished her high school work that she had stopped when she was 16.

Justine did some running too during this period, but she stopped doing sports for six months. ‘Don’t talk to me about sport, about tennis’. I didn’t want to do anything. I stopped completely for six months. I started to feel pretty bad. I was feeling alone, I didn’t know who I was any more, I didn’t know what to do with myself. It was difficult, though it got better after a few months.’

Thanks to Federer, his triumph at this year’s French Open ignited a spark. Like Henin, the Swiss needed one more title to complete his Grand Slam collection; and Henin needs Wimbledon.

‘When I saw Roger winning I could see all the hard work that he had put in – and all the doubts that he had had to overcome – and it was an important moment in my reflections,’ she said. ‘The thought of trying to win Wimbledon was certainly a big part early on when I was questioning what I wanted to do.’

‘It is another Justine Henin who will try and go out there and achieve her dream of finally winning Wimbledon,” she said.

Justine will compete in another exhibition tournament in Cairo on December 12, when she will face Russia’s 20th ranked Nadia Petrova. She will than participate in Brisbane international to start her 2010 season. She says she is now 70 percent ready, which is very good already as she beated both Belgian Kirsten Flipkens and World No. 12 Italian Flavia Pennetta in straight sets in the Women Tennis Trophy Exhibition in Belgium earlier this week.

I strongly believe Henin will have a bright season in the coming year.

Kim Clijsters beats Venus Williams 6-1, 7-5 at the Thomas Cook Diamond Games in Belgium.

It was the first premier level match that Clijsters had played in her home country since returning to tennis this year.

Swiss Patty Schnyder beated Kirsten Flipkens 6-4, 6-3 prior to the clash between Clijsters and Williams.

The matches were played in front of 14,000 spectators.

What will you do around New Year? Work? Partying? Or a bit of both? Six of the ATP players will participate at the Capitala World Tennis Championship at Abu Dhabi from 31 Dec 09 to 2 Jan 10.

The six contenders are 09 Year ended No.1 Roger Federer, No.2 Rafael Nadal, ATP World Tour Finals Champion Nikolay Davydenko; along with Swede Robin Soderling, French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka. Last year’s winner Andy Murray will not play in this tournament.

The players will compete in a single elimination series of matches with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer being granted the top two seeds and therefore being given a bye from first day matches. Semi-Final matches will take place on day 2 with the final and consolation (3rd & 4th place) matches taking place on Saturday.
